What kind of cocktails do KOO do?

When it comes to cocktails, our main emphasis is on seasonality and quality of ingredients. We change our cocktail menu at least 4 times a year in line with the changing seasons. In winter, we’ll have more warming, rum/whiskey based spicy cocktails and in the summer we’ll have fresh, citrusy cocktails. We only use well known, top shelf alcohol brands in our cocktails and all garnishes and fruit juices are fresh ensuring that the cocktail you taste will be the best it can be. We’ve tasted many Pornstar Martini’s in the past that are obviously either made from premixes or with poor fruit juices/alcohol. As is the case with cooking, ingredients and process make the biggest difference.

How many seats/tables do you have?

We may look small from the outside and whilst it is true we aren’t the biggest of venues, we do have a surprising amount of capacity. We recently renovated and opened up the upstairs to almost double our capacity. We now have 7 tables seating 27 downstairs, 6 tables seating 20 upstairs and 5 tables outside seating up to 27 plus standing space across the venue. In total we have 18 tables and 74 seats. We have separate women’s and men’s toilets located upstairs and downstairs.

Do you take event bookings like hen parties, baby showers & engagements?

We do! KOO is ideally suited to celebrate those special occasions. Tables, half a room, a full room or the full venue can be booked out. Prices are dependent upon the day of the week and time of the year and are based on what we would normally take. The actual hire is completely free but there will be a minimum drinks spend applied. We can also put together drinks packages for you which can be pre-paid and pre-made for your arrival.

Which award has KOO won?

In 2020, a year that has been very tough for hospitality, we found out that we’d won the award for ‘Best Cocktail & Gin Bar – North West’ at the 2020 Food & Drink Awards by Lux Life Magazine. The reason given for our win by the judges was the seasonal menu we produce, not only changing our cocktail menu but also our gin selection to suit the time of year as well as the consistent high quality with which our drinks are made. It is great to get recognition on a national basis and we’ll be looking to compete for more awards in the coming years.

Do I have to book a table?

No you do not have to book a table, we would however advise larger parties to pre-book if wanting to come on a Friday or Saturday night when we are at our busiest. Tables of 3 or less shouldn’t have a problem, if your party is 6 or bigger we would definitely recommend pre-booking. We also offer options to book half (for 10-12 people) or the full upstairs (20+ people) for larger gatherings.

Do you do drinks other than cocktails and gins?

Absolutely. We have a very large range of spirits and liqueurs as well as draught and bottled beer. One of our primary focuses going forward is to continue to increase our Whiskey selection and our draught beer selection. Currently we have San Miguel, Shed Head and Guinness on draft as well as Corona and Peroni in bottles. We have increased our Whiskey selection substantially recently options to suit every price range.

I’m not from Westhoughton, what are bars in Westhoughton like?

There is an excellent choice of bars in Westhoughton with everything from the traditional pub style to craft beer and cocktail/wine/gin bars such as ourselves, so no matter what kind of night you’d like, you’ll find something to suit you. There are also a few different types of restaurant, a taxi service located only a few doors away from KOO and everything is on one main street – Market Street. We tend to find that Westhoughton now attracts visitors from local areas such as Bolton, Wigan, Lostock, Horwich, Atherton and Hindley.
